A Note for Visitors
Saint Anne’s Chapel is dedicated to the faithful preservation and practice of the traditional Roman Catholic religion in all its integrity. Here, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is offered exclusively according to the Traditional Latin Roman Rite, and the Sacraments are administered according to the traditional rites of the Church.
In fidelity to the Faith handed down through the centuries, we do not recognize the Novus Ordo Missae—the “New Mass” introduced after the Second Vatican Council—as the true and proper expression of the Roman Catholic Mass.
Out of reverence for the Most Blessed Sacrament and in accordance with Catholic teaching and discipline, Holy Communion at Saint Anne’s Chapel is reserved to those who regularly attend the Traditional Latin Mass exclusively, are properly disposed and in the state of sanctifying grace, and are modestly dressed. We kindly ask all visitors to take a moment to read the requirements for the reception of Holy Communion and the dress code provided below. If you have any questions regarding these matters, please feel free to speak with one of our priests.
Catholics hold that the church is truly the House of God, for within the tabernacle dwells Our Lord Jesus Christ, really and substantially present—Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity—in the Most Holy Eucharist. In light of this sacred reality, we ask that all who enter this holy place conduct themselves with reverence and modesty, both in dress and behavior, mindful that they stand in the presence of Almighty God.
Reception of Holy Communion at Saint Anne's Chapel
While all are most welcome to attend our Masses and ceremonies here at Saint Anne’s, we do ask that you abide by the following necessary requirements in order to receive Holy Communion. Before approaching the communion rail, please read the following information carefully and speak to a priest if there are any questions.
To receive Holy Communion:
To receive Holy Communion:
- One must be a Roman Catholic validly baptized with the traditional ceremony. Therefore, if you have been baptized in the new rite (since 1969), it is necessary to bring this to the attention of the priest before receiving Holy Communion.
- One must believe and profess the traditional Catholic Faith as it was believed and professed before the Second Vatican Council.
- One must abide by the traditional doctrinal and moral teachings of the Church, especially in regard to purity and marriage. Therefore, if one has received an annulment since 1968, it is necessary to speak to a priest before approaching the communion rail.
- One must be in the state of sanctifying grace, having made a good confession to a traditional Catholic priest ordained according to the traditional ordination rite of the Church.
- One must attend the traditional Latin Mass exclusively; one may not attend the new Mass in English or the so-called “Mass of Extraordinary Form” in their local parish. Also those who attend the Masses of schismatic or doubtfully-ordained priests or bishops may not approach the communion rail here. Such would include those priests who are in communion with the “Old Catholic” sects, those who derive their orders from the late Archbishop Thuc, and those who espouse the grave errors of Fr. Leonard Feeney.
- One must be fasting from food and alcoholic beverages for three hours, liquids for one hour. Water and true medicine may be taken at any time; these do not break the communion fast.
If you have any questions regarding the fast for Holy Communion, please speak to one of the priests. Please be advised that the priest reserves the right to refuse Holy Communion to anyone who, in his prudent judgment, does not meet the requirements to receive Holy Communion and the standards of the dress code as stated above.
Again, all are most welcome to attend our Masses and ceremonies here at Saint Anne’s, and we thank you for your kind attention and cooperation in regard to these necessary requirements.
Dress Code
All are most welcome to visit our chapel and assist at Mass. Please be advised that we have a dress code on church property.
According to Apostolic Tradition and out of respect for the Real Presence of Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament, the faithful must dress modestly while in the church and when assisting at Holy Mass. Hence, please observe the following rules:
Women and girls must wear a modest dress or skirt that reaches below the knees and cover their heads with either a hat or a chapel veil. Short skirts or dresses which are above the knees, revealing blouses (such as low-cut, sleeveless, or see-through), slacks or shorts of any length do not meet the norms of Christian modesty.
Men and boys should wear neat trousers and dress shirt with a coat, jacket, or dress sweater, and a tie. Jeans, shorts, open shirts, sneakers, and other such casual dress are inappropriate and do not meet the standards for Mass.
